What is Low Level Laser Therapy?
Low Level Laser Therapy uses light energy to stimulate cells, heal damaged tissue, decrease pain and inflammation and build healthy new tissue. It is unique in how can deliver the energy deep into the tissue without heating it or having any adverse effects. It is different than surgical lasers or those that are used for hair removal.
How is Low Level Laser Therapy different from other lasers?
- Our Low Level Laser is manufactured by Theralase, a high tech Canadian company.
- The laser light photons are delivered at an extremely high frequency (average wavelength 905 nm / 660 nm) so that it can have a strong and deep cellular stimulating effect without heating the tissues (peak power of 50,000 mW)
- The cells absorb the light photons and transform the energy into chemical energy, which the body uses to produce the enzymes needed to heal. This process is called bio-activation.
- The energy produced by the laser gives damaged tissue cells a massive energy boost and helps speed up the healing process by reducing pain, inflammation and scar tissue.
- The laser also stimulates enzymes in the cells and it creates a cascading effect where the nearby cells will naturally produce the same enzyme.
- The enzymes that are produced are naturally used and made by the cell and the result is a natural, but fast, healing process.
