Dr. Peter Tzakas : DC, FCCPOR

Clinic Director, Chiropractor, Rehab Specialty

Dr. Peter Tzakas is the Clinic Director at Kinetica with over 16 years of experience in the field of Chiropractic and Rehabilitation. He has been practicing as a Chiropractor on Danforth since 2004.

​

He graduated from The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2002, after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in Human Biology. In 2005, he became a Fellow of the College of Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation (FCCPOR). This designation is awarded to a select group of Chiropractors who have completed comprehensive training in the field of Physical Rehabilitation over a 3 year period.

​

Over the years he has increased his knowledge and therapeutic approaches by completing various continuing education courses.  He holds certifications in Acupuncture, Active Release Techniques (ART), Graston Technique, Selective Functional Movement Assessments (SFMA) and most recently Clinical Neurodynamics.

 

Dr. Tzakas has taken time during the COVID lockdowns to continue his continuing education by completing  comprehensive online certification reviews on Diagnosis and Classification of Cervical Pain, Lumbar Pain, Shoulder Pain and Lower Extremity Pain.

 

He is proud to have established a multidisciplinary health team here on the Danforth and servicing the communities of Riverdale, Leslieville and the residents of East Toronto.

Dr. Jennifer Tanner : ND

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Jennifer Tanner graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Honours Kinesiology. Following graduation she took time to travel and work at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games. She spent the next four years studying the art and science of Naturopathic Medicine and was involved with the Naturopathic Sports Medicine Group. She has been practicing as a Naturopathic Doctor on Danforth since 2008.

Dr. Tanner believes there is a need for both conventional and alternative medicines and will provide you with most up to date research in health care. Naturopathic Medicine is at the cutting edge of health and has a great deal to offer us all.

​

She employs all the modalities of Naturopathic Medicine in her practice but has a special interest in Nutrition, Acupuncture, Women’s Health and Sports Medicine. Having had 3 children herself, Dr. Tanner has had tremendous success treating kids and infants.

​

Dr. Tanner is also trained in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture which is a non-invasive method of improving the appearance of aging skin. Her focus is patient based and she will work together with you to develop personalized treatment plans in order to obtain an optimal state of health.

F. Carmen Wan : DPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Carmen is a registered Physiotherapist under the Ontario College of Physiotherapy and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Carmen completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at D’ Youville College in the state of New York with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Kinesiology at York University.

 

At the start of Carmen’s professional career she began her practice in the United States by successfully assisting patients with physical difficulties resulting from illnesses, injuries and/or aging. Carmen is committed to creating a dedicated rehabilitation program aimed at meeting the individual needs and goals of the patient with the implementation of manual skills, therapeutic exercises and application of therapeutic modalities.

 

She practices using multiple manual techniques such as Mulligans, McKenzie, muscle energy technique, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, contemporary cupping, and acupuncture. Carmen continues to strive for professional excellence. This past year she has spent time studying under Fred Mitchell Jr and Kai Mitchell to further her muscle energy techniques. She also studied under Brian Mulligan and Mark Oliver to elevate her practice with “mobilization with movement” for the sacral region.

 

She recently completed the Selective Functional Movement Assessment Level 1 and Advanced Neurofunctional Sports Performance Specialist at McMaster University.

Anugrah Mukhi : BPT

Registered Physiotherapist

Anugrah is a registered Physiotherapist under the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He completed his 4 year Bachelors in Physiotherapy in 2011.
 

Anugrah has had the opportunity to learn a wide variety of clinical skills through the experiences he has in different clinical settings. His has worked private practice specializing in orthopedic and sport related injuries, long term care and community care He is extremely excited to be working out of Kinetica.
 
He aims to empower you with the right personalized tools to help you achieve your goals and live the quality of life you want.
 
He practices using a multitude of manual therapy techniques to best meet your specific needs for your specific problem.  These include joint mobilization,
myofascial release, Mulligan technique, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release, kinesio taping, acupuncture and cupping.

 

He stays active with latest research and provides
evidence-based practice. These techniques are used in conjunction with education, and
exercise prescription to help meet your needs.

Etsuko Shibamoto: M.OMSc

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Etsuko has been a health practitioner since 2016, when she began her career as a Registered Massage Therapist. After years of Massage Therapy practice, she decided to go back to school to learn more about the structure and function of the human body as a whole unit.

​

She completed a four-year osteopathic education at The Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton, Ontario where she received her diploma in Masters in Osteopathic Manipulative Science (M.OMSc.). This program allows students to take an in-depth look at the interrelationships of the anatomy, physiology and bio-mechanics of the human body. Through the use of Osteopathic techniques, students learn how to remove restrictions to allow the body to return to a pain free and healthy state. Osteopathy can be a very effective treatment in both chronic and acute conditions.

She is a member in good standing with the Ontario Osteopathic Association (OOA).

Matthew Dietrich : RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Matt became a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in 1999 after graduating from Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough. He began his career in Ottawa where he worked at a sports injury clinic treating athletes in the Junior Olympic Program. He then spent several years working in spas on cruise ships, combining massage with various holistic modalities such as hot stones, seaweed wraps and exfoliations.

​

He has been providing Massage Therapy on Danforth since 2008 and holds certificates in Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapy.

​

Matt believes that lifestyle choices are the key to maintaining optimum health and performance. His personal routine includes daily yoga, running several times a week, eating a diet based in natural foods as well as getting regular massages. He is fluently bilingual in both English and French.

Ellien Fulgar : RMT

Registered Massage Therapist

Ellien graduated from Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic in 2015. An enthusiastic and knowledgeable therapist, she brings hands on experience working with various settings and clients from different socio-economic backgrounds.

 

Whether it’s for relaxation, restoration, prevention or rehabilitation, she will work with you to develop a treatment plan that will meet your needs. She likes to integrate various techniques such as Swedish massage, joint mobilization, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue, sports massage, cupping therapy and thai massage into her treatments.

 

Outside the treatment room, Ellien enjoys the outdoors and always keep herself active through regular training in martial arts. She also assists with martial arts training and competes regularly.

 

Ellien is a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and the Registered Massage Therapy of Ontario (RMTAO).

Candace May : RMT, FST

Registered Massage Therapist
Fascial Stretch Therapist

 

With over 18 years of experience in healthcare Candace brings an extensive background in patient care, anatomy, and wellness to her evolving practice in massage therapy and fascial stretch therapy.

 

Her clinical experience has cultivated a deep commitment to promoting overall health and functional movement. Candace is dedicated to providing evidence-based, therapeutic treatments designed to enhance mobility, relieve tension, and support long-term well-being.

​

Following her transition into manual therapy, Candace completed her RMT training and added a certification in Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), allowing her to use a whole-body approach to address tension, posture and movement limitations. Her additional training in TMJ therapy uniquely equips her to assist clients experiencing jaw pain, headaches, or neck/upper-body restrictions related to TMJ dysfunction.

 

At Kinetica, Candace applies an integrative approach: blending myofascial release, joint mobilization, assisted stretching, and functional movement correction into each treatment. She partners with clients to understand their individual goals—whether it’s returning to sport, easing everyday discomfort, or improving long-term mobility—and crafts tailored sessions that reset movement patterns, reduce pain and support sustainable results.

Christopher Singh : CAT(C), FST

Athletic Therapist
Fascial Stretch Therapist

 

Chris completed his degree in Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College and is currently a Certified Athletic Therapist under the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association. He most recently completed the Stretch to Win Fascial Stretch Therapy course - a unique system of assisted stretching that targets both fascia and joints.

​

Prior to becoming an Athletic Therapist, Chris obtained a degree in Sports Sciences from the University of the West of England. 

 

In addition to working for many sports teams and organizations, Chris has acquired a vast variety of clinical skills working for multidisciplinary clinics while treating different populations. When practicing, he enjoys using a variety of joint mobilizations, muscle releases, stretches and exercises to help his patients. 

​

One of his core beliefs is movement is one of the best medicines for the body! He looks forward to treating and helping his patients move without pain! 

Joyce Tai : R.TCM, R.AC 

Registered Acupuncturist
Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor

 

Joyce is a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist under the
College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario
(CTCMPAO). She completed her Bachelor of Chinese Medicine in 2015 and followed with a
Master of Science in Chinese Medicine in The Chinese University of Hong Kong.


Throughout her career, Joyce has honed her skills through diverse experiences using both
herbal medicine and acupuncture. Having worked in clinics in Hong Kong, she has encountered
a wide range of patients and their unique health challenges. Notably, she has collaborated
closely with hospitals in Hong Kong, contributing to integrated care for cancer patients and
stroke rehabilitation.

 

This holistic approach underscores her belief in treating the individual as a
whole rather than just addressing isolated symptoms.
Joyce is also passionate about women’s health, particularly focusing on issues like menopause
and menstrual health. Moreover, Joyce addresses concerns related to anxiety and insomnia,
recognizing the crucial link between mental well-being and overall health. She employs various
approaches in her practice, including acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, herbal remedies, and
lifestyle recommendations.
