WSIB Therapy for your work related injury – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need a referral to start therapy after a work injury?

In most cases, yes. Work-related injuries are typically covered under workers’ compensation, which requires authorization from the insurance carrier or a referring provider. Once your injury is reported and approved, we can help coordinate the next steps so therapy can begin as quickly as possible.

2. What is a Program of Care?

A Program of Care (POC) is a treatment plan created by your therapist after your initial evaluation. It outlines:

  • Your diagnosis related to the work injury

  • Recommended therapy services

  • Frequency and duration of visits

  • Goals focused on recovery and safe return to work

The Program of Care is submitted to the workers’ compensation insurance carrier for approval before ongoing treatment continues.

3. What do I need to provide on my initial visits?

When you arrive for your appointment, bring:

  • Your injury ID Number

  • Name and phone number of your WSIB Claims Adjustor (if available)

4. How long does therapy last after a work injury?

Every injury is different. The length of therapy depends on:

  • Severity of the injury

  • Job demands

  • How your body responds to treatment

You are automatically covered for 8 weeks of therapy. After which we will work with WSIB to receive supplemental therapy if you require it. Your therapist will regularly reassess your progress and update the Program of Care as needed.

5. Can therapy help me return to work safely?

Yes—that’s one of our primary goals. At Kinetica Health, therapy focuses on:

  • Reducing pain

  • Restoring strength and mobility

  • Improving function specific to your job duties

We emphasize safe, sustainable return-to-work outcomes, not just symptom relief.

6. How do I get started?

Simply contact our office to schedule an initial evaluation. We’ll walk you through:

  • What information is needed

  • How authorization works

  • What to expect at your first visit

We’re here to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

7. Where is the WSIB Program of Care Available?
