Hello to 2024!

We are welcoming in 2024 with some exciting news.

Our clinic has added a second Osteopathic Practitioner to the Clinic to better serve the Danforth community. Etsuko Shibamoto is available on Wednesdays while Ben Sluzar continues to offer Mondays and Thursdays. We now offer over 20 hours of Osteopathic services per week.

Osteopathy is a form of manual, hands-on therapy that aims to seek out the cause of dysfunction in the body, rather than chase and relieve symptoms. Though the term may suggest the “study of bones”, Osteopathy at its core is so much more than that, dealing with every system of the body and the important anatomical and physiological relationships between them. This not only includes the musculoskeletal system, but also the cranio-sacral system, the vast fascial network, visceral (internal organ) systems, as well as the circulatory, endocrine (hormonal), lymphatic and nervous systems.

The goal of osteopathic treatment is to thoroughly assess the body in order to find the cause or root of each individuals unique dysfunction(s), and then help restore an expression of health and autoregulation. This usually involves a comprehensive physical and palpatory assessment, familiarization of the individualized health history, and the use of both orthopaedic and osteopathic tests which give a sense of the position, mobility, quality, and vitality of various tissues in the body.

All of these factors lead to a global approach in the search and removal of different restrictions that may be impeding the expression of health.
